Love Barnet is going from strength to strength and opened its second gift and homeware shop in early November.
Manager Despina Wotton explains, “An exciting space, Billy & Betty is an independent design led shop showcasing the work of British based artists and designers, many of whom are local. Handmade goodies and a carefully curated collection of products include blankets, tea towels, cushions, ceramics, jewellery, stationary, prints and children’s accessories and toys. We look for pieces that are well made, clever or unusual and affordable. We like products to be functional as well as beautiful, with maybe a bit of quirkiness thrown in!”
She continues “My background is creative, studying at Central Saint Martins and then Brighton University before working as a photographer’s assistant shooting fashion and advertising and then moving on to commission and work with photographers and illustrators as an Art Buyer for London based advertising agencies. I am passionate about architecture, photography, illustration and all areas of design from textiles and interiors to furniture and graphics. Influences range from the proportions and symmetry of Georgian architecture to mid-century architecture, design and furniture to the clean modern aesthetic of Scandinavian and contemporary British design.”
Despina will be working with Angharad Wilson and other local members of staff who all extend a warm welcome to Billy & Betty and look forward to meeting you soon.
What’s more on the opening day, a real life Billy and Betty who were visiting from Ireland dropped in to take a look!
