Barnet Furniture Centre InteriorHello! This is our first blog for Love Barnet and we’re excited to be part of the new website and helping toward promoting Barnet! It is a fantastic area and it’s important to have a platform to endorse all the wonderful things taking place within the community.

For those that are not already aware of the organisation, Barnet Furniture Centre is a furniture re-use centre and registered charity. We bring multiple benefits to the community and the environment; diverting furniture away from landfill and providing good quality items to suit all budgets. Our two-tier pricing strategy enables us to offer the lower price to customers who are in receipt of benefits.

We also work closely with Barnet Homes, providing assistance to residents who have recently been re-housed within the borough.

As a charity, we rely solely on donations and, in order to make donating as convenient as possible; we provide a free collection service within the borough of Barnet. We do also skirt the borough – please don’t hesitate to give the centre a call to discuss collections in more detail, we’re always happy to help.

Our ethos here at BFC is restore, revive and re-use. We cannot bear the idea of furniture that is in reusable condition being dumped unnecessarily! Our workshop space within the warehouse enables us to up-cycle any tired furniture and give items a new twist and a whole new lease of life.  Barnet Furniture Centre Ariel

Our Warehouse is open to the public Mon- Fri 9am – 5pm and Sat 10am – 3pm and it’s the perfect place to peruse for bargains. From antique, to retro, to second-hand Ikea, whatever your preference, there really is something for everyone in our Aladdin’s cave! In addition, with collections twice daily Mon-Fri, our stock is constantly being updated. We advise customers to keep checking back regularly to ensure they get the pick of the bunch.

If there’s something specific you are looking for, feel free to mention it to a friendly member of staff – we will try our hardest to keep our eyes peeled for you! However, as we can get very busy at times, the best way to stay updated with all the latest stock and any news from the centre is to follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

In addition to the warehouse, we opened our Boutique @BFC store around 9 months ago in order to give us a presence on the high-street, but primarily as a platform for showcasing our beautiful up-cycled furniture. Beth Swallow, who manages and runs the project – with assistance from her fantastic team consisting of staff and volunteers – carries out the up-cycling and is happy to take on commissions if you would like any furniture painted. Our range of specialist services includes; shabby chic, block colour, decoupage, fabric finish, refinish and hand-painted design.

We are extremely lucky to have our volunteers who enable us to keep the Boutique store open 6 days per week and provide assistance with the up-cycling and painting of the furniture. If you, or anyone you know, would be interested in volunteering and assisting in the workshop, and learning new paint techniques in the process, then please do get in touch!

We look forward to welcoming you at the Warehouse and Boutique!

Best wishes,

The BFC Team
